Production Diary

July 9th~ today was our first lesson of A2, where we covered what we were going to do this year and how everything was going to work. The first task that was given to us was a 2000 word essay with the question of; Music videos have changed drastically over time and are now unrecognisable from their historical counterparts. I found this quite interesting as I got to see how different genres of music progressed and see how much they have changed over the past 50 years or so. I overall concluded that music videos haven’t really changed that much because, they still have the same concepts just videos now are more higher standards because, of the technology that has been developed since. From being set this essay, it made me realise how organised I need to be when it comes to this because I need to plan out what will go in each paragraph. However I would have liked to be more time bounded so that I completed the essay before the deadline so that I could re-read it over to make sure it all made sense and that I didn’t miss anything. Also I went 160 words over, which means that I would of liked the essay to get to the point more so I didn’t ramble on.

July 10th ~ Today the class was set a project all together where we had to create a display bored of significant music videos from the 1960s to present day. We were split up into different groups and the group I was in was given present day. Our group wanted to pick videos from all different types of genres. I was given the genres of Rap, R&B and Alternative. This was a challenge as I do not normally listen to this type of music, which meant that I could research different music videos that I wouldn’t normally watch, which I thought was really good. However I think that we should have worked more as a group as there isn’t all of our groups work on the display bored.

July 10th ~ we had another lesson to day where we were given our preliminary task, which was Britney Spears hit me baby one more time. We were then split up into two groups. Our group worked really well as, as soon as we were to start working we were already planning what we should do. We watched the video as a group and screenshot each shot, and then we worked out the time frame, costume, actors, what shot and the location. We then got on to filming it the next lesson as we were all ready and prepared. The plan really helped us on what we needed to film and where which meant that we finished filming after a week. It also helped with the editing as we could see what shot was next and how it was meant to look and how long for. The filming was a lot of fun as it was funny to part of, also it meant that we could understand what it would be like when filming our main music video. Editing was a difficult task, as it was really hard to get all the lip syncing right. We took it in turns to edit so everyone had a go and could see/ practice for the main thing. However there were times when everyone was not included as, we couldn’t all fit around the computer to edit together, with filming only a couple were in the shot, and the others had to watch to see if it was right. Overall I think this has really helped us understand what we need to do for our own music video. As we have gained so experience to what we need to do.

September 3rd~ this was our first lesson back from the holidays, and we were given the task of writing an essay about analysing a music video of our choice. All the points that we had to include were;
·         Comparing it to a theory
·         What genre was it
·         How did it fit in with the conventions of that genre
·         Stereotypes of the people within the music video
·         Whether it was a narrative, performance or concept
·         How to lyrics fit in with the music
·         Iconography
·         Mise en scene
·         Camera work
·         Editing
·         How it relates to the artist
·         The purpose of the video.
I chose to do the video of Mother We Share by Chvrches. This was because, I knew for my main music video we would have to do a song which doesn't have a music video and that no one knows which means most of the type of genre would be alternative or electronic and that type of music. The genre of this type of music would fit into this type of genre. This meant that I have already started my research on the genre of my music video and what it will entail. This music video has already given me some ideas on what to do for the video and what it will need to look like to make sure that the audience will know what type of genre this video will be.
I learnt a lot from researching this video as, I found out what this type of genre will include. For example there is mostly narrative and performance it is very rare for this type of genre to be concept.  The lighting used within also showed me what kind of mood it will create and it will depend on the beat of the song. Also it depends of the artist itself and how artistic they want it to be and whether there is going to be a deeper meaning behind it.
To improve this piece of work I would of liked to compare it to other music videos of that genre as well to see how much it differs from them and what are the similarities between them, so I could find out what the main aspects of my music video will be. This would mean I could then work around these ideas and make it my own.

September 4th ~ Today we looked at the theory of Andrew Goodwin. One of his famous quotes is "Music video is not primarily a commodity form, but a promotional one". I do agree with him on this as even when the artist isn't promoting a product or a place they will always be promoting themselves and creating their image. This is very important as it has shown me that the music video that I will be creating will need to be a promotion of the artist that I will build.  When I start planning of what kind of shots that I will be including, I will take into account that everything that we do will then link to the image of the band. I will always have to keep this in mind whenever I am creating something for the artist as it will be what they will be known for.

September 8th ~ this lesson we focused on star image. This is what artists have when they have been around the media for a long time, they develop traits which the audience likes which makes them a "star" As a class we came up with certain traits that a celebrity should have to be a star;
·         Popular
·         Talented
·         Influential
·         Longevity
·         Over the top
·         Charismatic
·         Their own appearance
Then we thought up of artist that would fit into these categorise and they were;
·         Justin Timberlake
·         Ed Sheeran
·         Beyoncé
·         Madonna
·         Lady Gaga
·         Rhianna
·         Michael Jackson
·         Miley Cyrus
This was really interesting as I could see how the artists changed throughout time and developed with their music. When creating my artist I will have to think about this as I need to create this type of profile for them.

September 15th ~ Today we were challenged with the task of lip syncing. Firstly I did my own lip syncing video to the song Classic by The Knocks as it is one of my favourite songs. I found it very embarrassing standing in front of the camera and trying to lip sync to the song. You have to know the song really well to know when the words come in and at what point do you make it look like you have to put more effort it. This is because in my practice I came in too early which was quite embarrassing, but it's made me realise how important it is for when we start filming the actual music video that we do not mess the words up and turn into that character of the singer/star that we are creating. After that I then went into my group and we did the song that we wanted to do for our main music video. There are three of us Ryan, Chloe and I. As we only picked the song a couple of days ago we didn't really know the words very well so we did the best we could. This showed us that we really needed to work on this and remember all the words for when we actually filmed the video. We filmed it lip syncing together because, we wanted it to look like a band so we would all sing at the chorus and one sings on the verse. It showed me for us to do this we need to learn when they do the harmonising together so we can do that. We all found it very embarrassing so we need to learn to come out of our shells more and really go for it, because if we don't then it will look really bad which we do not want to happen.

Editing the video was an interesting experience which was very challenging. It was quite hard getting the video the exactly the same time as the song, but this showed that we needed more practice at this which is something I will do in my spare time and work with the software to develop ways of making sure that they will fit together perfectly. Once I managed to fit the song and the video together it looked quite funny as it made us look like we could actually sing, however the voice of the song did not really fit with the way that we looked like on the day. This showed us that we need to change our appearance completely to fit in with the genre of the music, and make our video look more believable.

September 18th ~ I got feedback from my teacher on the task Laura Mulvey theory. She told me that I need to work on “If you could identify more precise parts of the videos and explain how they prove/disprove the video. Try to also argue against the theory. How will you use this in”

From the Marketing task she said I need to improve on “If you could consider how this might influence your planning ideas for how to market your own star”From the feedback I was given I did go back and add to the post as I thought that it was very important and it was something I need to consider to get a deeper understanding of these tasks.

September 22nd ~ This lesson we were given another research task in to Digipaks. This was really interesting as I have never heard of them before so it was all new to me. A digipak is the fold out piece of paper you get when you buy a CD, but this one fold out. These are really rare now as most CDs have the booklet one. From the ones that I analysed they showed me all the aspects I need to include, like the theme of the album, images that represent the artist and make sure that the images are the right way round for the different dimensions when you fold them the right way which means some images will be upside down. When planning my digipak I need to come up with a theme for the album and how to get across the artists star image as these are the most important aspects for the digipak.  Mise-en-scene, camera work and especially editing will all be very important as the editing will give the artist an interesting look which will attract the target audience.

September 25th~ We had two lesson to complete an assessment task, as it was assessment week at school. The task was to write a essay reflecting on our AS work and seeing what our strengths and weaknesses were to then apply them to this year's course work on what we are going to do differently to ensure that we will get a better grade than we did last year. This made me really think of what I could do better this year to make sure that my music video is the best it can be. For example last year I did all the research that I needed to do however I only covered the basics, which means that this year I want the research to be more detailed so I can fully explain what the conventions are of the genre of song that I am going to do comes across easily. This will also give me ideas of how I can original (as the artist) and challenge what the normal ideas are but still show that it is this type of genre. I think this will help me get a higher mark as it will show my creativity and originality.

September 25th ~ I had a teacher assessment on the task conventions of a music video. They said If you could include footage to exemplify your ideas.” From this I added different music videos that would show what I meant. For example I talked about indie rock and I gave the example of Nickleback Edge of a Revolution, as this shows exactly what I was talking about how most of the video is performance. While Rihanna with S&M highlights what I was talking about for the pop genre.

September 30th ~ the task that was set today was to remake a artist digipak. Throughout the lesson my group researched into different artists digipaks that we could copy and we finally settled on Taylor Swift's Red. The camera shots and background would be very easy to copy as we could easily access the locations. For example there is a picture of her by a field which we can use. The photos are mostly mid-shots and close ups which can be done. The only challenging part to this is editing as once we finished the photos we have to give it a vintage filter over the top. We do not know how to create this yet which will be difficult but when we learn how to do this it will be very helpful as this is the kind of filter that we want to use for our artist video and pictures. During this lesson we only managed to start planning what we were going to do and what were the main features of the images so that we made sure that they were included within it. However, this means that when it gets to the next lesson we can start straight away with what we are going to do and where which means that we are going to be very prepared for when it gets to it. This is a skill that we need to make sure that we do for our main video, as planning is very important because we need to know what we are doing, how we are doing and when we are doing it.

October 1st ~ today I thought that I could experiment with using Adobe Premiere Pro. Last year I only learned how to do the basic techniques of how to cut the shots, transitions and adding music. For editing a music video I will need to know more than this as, for our genre it requires a lot of editing to fit in with the conventions. I first taught myself how to edit backwards, this means that I can reverse the shot. I downloaded videos of people jumping off cliffs in to the ocean; I thought that this would look really cool backwards as it will look like they are jumping out of the water. Trying to find out how to make it reverse was quite hard, but when I found the list for speed and duration it took me to the place where I need to click “Reverse speed” From clicking this is allows the footage to be played backwards. After this it was really easy. From my research of music videos I found out that slow motion is a common technique used within my genre. This led me to try and figure out how I could change the speed of the shot. On the same page from where I could make the shot reverse was where I needed to put numbers in to change the speed. For the shot to go backwards it has to be a minus number. After trying different techniques, it has made me more confident for when I have to start editing our own footage because, I am now more familiar with the software for me to find out how to do certain effects.

October 6thToday I got a teacher assessment on digipak genre change she said “When reflecting on your choices, could you be more specific about how this has enhanced your understanding of incorporating genre into your digipak design” This was really helpful as it made me go back over my work and think of ways I could be more specific to get my points across of how colours can completely change the genre of an album. Then it challenged me to think how this is will affect the digipak that I will design. This helped me looked out for any problems before they happen so I can avoid them. For example it has shown me that the colour is really important which shows that I need to pick the right colours to show the genre

October 10thlooking at our feedback from the audience questionnaire, it has showed me different details that will help me create the artist. From looking at the answers we found out that for people in the age range of 15-18 mostly listen to pop/indie/Hip Hop. This was helpful because the genre of our song is indie which means we now know who the target audience is for our music video and who to direct the artist to. What was important for when the audience looks for an artist is a good dress sense which is different from everyone else as these appeals to them more. Another point which I found interesting is that most people said that they like an artist that doesn’t take themselves too seriously. This is defiantly something that we should incorporate within our artist start image because; we do not want to make her look like a complete diva so audiences will not listen to her music.

A question that people found quite hard to answer was “What do you like about music videos” this is mainly because, they do not look for anything specific that they want to see, as this will make all the videos look the same. For the editing to be faced pace and tell a story came up a lot which shows that, for our music video to be good it needs something to hold it together, which mostly looks like a narrative. To make a music video interesting our target audience mostly said that it needs to be new and different for it to really entice them.

From this questionnaire was really helpful as it showed us they direction in which we have to go with are artist and ideas that we have. This is to make sure that we fully target our video to the right audience, which will lead to more sales of her music.

October 10thThis lesson we analysed the lyrics to our song “East of Eden”. I found this really interesting as, straight off the meaning of the song was unclear which made me want to find out more. From the research it led us to John Steinbeck’s book East of Eden. Themes of freedom, acceptance and guilt were the main features within the lyrics. This book was linked to the story of Cain and Able, where Cain was sent to be exiled in the Land of Nod and the East of Eden is a location within it. The Land of Nod can also be referred to the mythical land of sleep “Go off to the land of Nod” plays with the phases “nod off” if we then link this back to not wanting to be confined to society the song could mean that the only way out of the control is to sleep, which could be seen as to suicide. The East of Eden could be seen as reaching Heaven after killing yourself.  This was really good as it helped get different ideas of what to do for the music video. We thought that this idea will help us get the narrative of the song. This means next lesson we need to sit down and think through of different narrative ideas that we can come up with and pick the best one. From this we can start story boarding.

October 11th ~I got more teacher assessment on my work. Website analysis she said If you could consider how colour, image, layout are important and what it says to the audience for each one”. I went back to added those aspects to why they were important and what it says to the audience, because this will push me to think more about the main features that make up a website and why are they so important, which I can then reflect in to my actual website that I will design. This will help me avoid creating a website that doesn’t find the target audience or genre.
Audience questionnaire they said If you could consider any targets or problems that this questionnaire threw up, for you to work on next” From looking at the problems it made me realise the things that I need to know more in depth, as the answers were very basic and some people didn’t quite get the questions. This has shown me that I need to do more market research into what my target audience actually thinks and get them to develop them more so I can fully understand why they believe certain things, like narrative is better than concept.
Digipak recreation she said Can you change some of the timings on the maker? It jumps ahead quite quickly at times. A shot of the whole digipak as one?” I went back onto the software that I used and made each slide longer so it gave the audience more time to read it. Also I uploaded the picture by itself so that people can look at it without the timing issue.

October 12th ~ Online survey review
6 days ago we conducted an online survey asking different audiences questions about music tastes and videos. I found this really helpful as it helps me understand our target audience more. We got back 53 responses which I think is a good number as it means that we got enough to understand the basics of what they really think. Our target audience favourite genre was Pop which I thought was quite interesting as if I compare it to the questionnaire the most popular genre was Indie. Think is a good contrast because our song fits into both of these categorise, which means that we can appeal this song to more people in the target age range.  The problem with the overall survey was that most of the people that answered it were 31 +. This is not our target audience at all, which means that the answers that we got were not completely directed to us. This means that we need to conduct more surveys on what are actual target audience thinks of these answers. This has made me think that a focus group would be good because, we can get more of an opinion with answers to why they feel this way instead of it being very basic. This will also give the audience people to bounce off of which will create a discussion, where people are more likely to be open than bias, helping us get the most accurate market research we can.

October 15th ~ during our lesson we went round asking our target audience, from reading the lyrics what they thought what they song meant. Most of the audience replied with that the meaning was about someone trying to run away and not conform to society. As this is the main message the song, when we are planning we will have to make it very obvious what the message is for the audience to understand what the music video is about. This was really helpful because, when we are planning the shots we can incorporate what the target audience thinks it is about.

October 17th ~ Today my group decided that we should do a lip sync with the person who will be our artist. This is because we think that she really suits the role of the star that we created. We decided to practice the song with her, to see what we need to work on with her before we started to film, to make sure that she didn’t mess up on the day. This will help to make sure that the video will flow well and it looks like she actually is singing it. From practicing this I saw that we need to practice her pronouncing the words to make it look believable. Also I saw that she needed to learn the lyrics of the song more to make sure that it looks fluid. Also she smirks too much which is something that we want to avoid in the video as it wouldn't suit the tar image, she will have to be more serious. Lastly I think that her mouth needs to be more relaxed when she sings because, at the moment it looks very stiff and uncomfortable which something that the artist shouldn't look like is.

October 27th ~ Today was our first filming day. The group all met each other at Stratford at 10, and then we first went Regents Park for the garden shots. From looking at our plan of what we wanted to do there was helpful as we got what we needed to have, but from the scenery and the different aspects of the locations gave us new ideas that we could use for our music video. This shows that we didn’t follow our plan completely as, we came up with better ideas of what we could do. I think this was a good idea because, you have a plan to guide you for what to do but if you want to develop the ideas more I think that is fine, as that will help me to develop a good piece of work. We did a lot of shots at the park, which will help us look through when we get to editing what lip syncing looks the best and what angle looks the best. We finished there about two, where we then headed to Oxford Street. We knew that this street was going to be very busy as people like to shop there and it’s close to Christmas so we knew that we could get a good shot. We set up all of our equipment on the side so we weren’t in any ones way, so when we were ready we could film straight away. The shot that we were about to do was the time lapsing shots. Mollie the girl playing our artist had to stand there straight faces and not moves. This shot was going to be the most difficult, but I think I went quite well, as no one walked in front of the camera and the people around didn’t make funny faces, which made the shot look more real. Overall I think that today went really well, as we didn’t have any major problems and we got all the shots that we needed to do.

October 30th ~ this was our second day of filming where we went to Grace’s house to film. Originally we were going to go to a field near her house to film a tea party but it would be very difficult to get all the equipment and props up there, as a result we stayed in her garden.  She has a line of fur trees which made a really good background. Setting up all the props and the teat party took quite a long time, as we wanted to get everything to look right and fit the artist’s image. As soon as we finished this we got straight to filming. Again we followed all the shots on our plan and more as we came up with different ideas that would look really good. The hardest shot of all was getting the powder paint right. The first time we used it, it was just in the tea cups, but after we filmed it, we saw that it wasn’t enough paint for it to actually look good, so the second time came out better, as we used a jug we a lot more powder paint. Over all today went really well, as a group we work really well with each other as we understand what we mean when we come up with ideas.

November 26th ~ Today I was given the opportunity to go to the BFI in London to go to a talk called “Making music videos”. The talk was taken by Pete Fraser, who teaches at one of the biggest media centres in the country, and has a blog called Media Magazine to help students with their A Levels. The first session was where we looked through the history of music videos. There are three main eras of music videos:
1.       Pre-1981
2.       1981-2005 (MTV)
3.       2005- present day (YouTube)
The first main music video that was shown was in the 1930s by Len Lye called Colour Box. This was just pieces of film scratched in different colours and put to music. It became more of an advert towards the end due to the sponsorship of the post office. In the 1940s we talked about the Soundies. These were like jukeboxes for music videos; I think this would be a really good idea if there were recent music videos in them. We looked at the video Nat King Cole, from this video you can see how early the male gaze came into effect, the song wasn’t even about a women, it was just put there. In the 1960s the Scopitones came out in France, where they were very popular but only played European artists, that weren’t really well known. 1960s with The Beatles, Can’t Buy me love, where they all were just running round a field, which shows that it is mostly concept. When we got to the 1980s you could see a big difference in the style of music videos, as they became more popular and had a higher budget. This was when MTV first came on television. During this period the British music dominated the channel.
The second session was all about how to make a good music video, and the two points that really stood out for me were: visually memorable and worth repeated viewing. This is something that I defiantly want my music video to incorporate.
The last session was with a guest speaker called Jake Wynne who directed and edited music videos for Spice Girls and Robbie Williams. This was quite an inspiration as it gave me an idea of what kind of attitude I need to have to get somewhere in the Media industry. Also he showed me what I really need to think about when planning a music video, as there needs to be a clear concept throughout the music video, with good themes.

Overall, I have learnt a lot from today as I have found out how music videos progressed throughout the years, but also what I need to add to my music video to make sure I can make it look at professional as I can. When I am happy with the music video, I would like to enter it in the music video competition for the best music video, as this is something I would like our music video to achieve.

December 3rd ~ today we did are third day of shooting, where we filmed in our school pool. We wanted to do these shots to add to the concept of the artist being weird and different and very flowy. To show this we made her wear the long white dress so when we filmed underwater it would look very cool. We were very efficient with the time that we had to film. We got straight in the water and started, and didn't mess around. We managed to get all the shots that we planned to get in just over 30 mins. We thought that doing filming in shorter sessions would be a better idea, as the crew and the artist wouldn't get as tired and we can put all of our effort in the time. We looked back at our footage that night, and we decided that we are going to go back next week to film more lip syncing shots as this would give us a bigger range of performance shots. From this we have learnt more about how an underwater camera works, so when we go back and film next week then hopefully we can get better shots. When we get to editing these shots we will have to add effects to it to get her body to stand out more. Overall it was very successful filming session.

December 4th ~ today we added the shots that we did underwater to the music video. They are starting to look really good as we are having quick shots of them at the starts as it will make the audience more intrigued to what will happen later on in the video. This helps to make the music video more concept as it looks like the artist is really…. Most of the underwater shots that we used overlapped with other underwater shots. This really high lights the editing side of our genre as this is a typical genre convention, as lots of other music videos use this techniques, for example Lana Del Ray- Shades of Cool. Over the whole of the music video there is an effect which is enhancing the green in the video; this effect is called Pro Amp. This is where you can make the video more of one colour and they are primary colours such as Blue, Red and Green. We wanted this effect throughout video as it helps to make look natureier as this highlights her star image as well. However in some shots it can make the colours look quite artificial, so they do not look very natural which is something that we wanted, also with the water shots if we added this on to them then the blue of the water would have a green tinge to it which makes it look weird. This would mean that I need to take away the green effect away from the water shots.

December 6th ~ we finally finished the first draft of the website. The pages that we have included are; the Welcome page, Homepage, About me, Albums, Social media, Gallery, Store, Events and Contact. These are the most typical types of pages that most of artist website have. This means that our audience will be able to work the website and know where everything will be that they want to find. To improve what we have so far would mainly be to work on the Welcome page as it is very plain at the moment and we want to make it more interactive and interesting for our consumers. For the other pages we need to make audience questionnaires to get some feedback to see what we need to do, to improve. The main objective overall for our website is to make it as interactive as we can.

December 9th ~
The objective for today is to concentrate on the merchandise that we need to create for our website. We covered the basics that every other artist has. Which is Tour T-shirts and artist t-shirts and wristbands. From having different types of shirts it allows our audience to have a selection to choose from, and also be used as a marketing tool. We wanted to add more products that would be different from other artist which would help to persuade our fans to buy them. For example pillows, this is something that they can have that would be quite different, but they have a plain pattern so it can match any kind of decorations. Cold drinks as this market seems to become very popular with our target audience and form having our fans use this it can get her name out to more people. To improve the merchandise there needs to be more products for example bundles as most artist have this now, and more tops to choose form as we don’t have many. To be able to do this we need to have a photo shoot with our artist to collect more photos that we can use.

December 17th ~We started to research about our digipak and we wanted to get some inspiration to what we could include to make it more interesting. We defiantly knew that we didn’t want our artist to be on every single panel of the digipak as it would mean that there would be a high chance that the pictures would all look the same, and we wanted to show our different skills that we could do. From research we found a student photographer called Laura William, we all really liked the photos that she took as they really linked in with our artist’s star image of being quite quirky and different and making things seem weird like she is living in her own world. This is something that we wanted to portray within our digipak. Our favourite photo of hers is the one where there is a man standing in the woods with a clock as his head, this is something that we would like to do within ours but have a tea cup head instead as this would link with our music video.

December 18th ~ We have been continuing editing of music video everyday of trying to figure out what else we could do to make it better and what doesn’t look right. So today we released our draft 7 of our music video. So far we have added in more overlay shots and have taken shots out and replaced it with others. Not much has changed since draft 6 but we are still making progress. To further this video we need to get some more constructive criticism, because so far all the feedback that we have received is that it’s good but we want something more than this, as we do not know where to go from this.

January 7th ~ from coming back to school over the holidays our main focus is to finish the website and get feedback and to start our digipak. Today we made a collection of different plans that could be a possibility for our digipak. We made a plan each in our group as this meant that we could all have an input into what the digipak looks like, also we could take the good qualities from each to make the best possible digipak we could. From looking at our groups plans we had a lot of ideas in common which was, the horse heads facing the CD and having a close up of Luna as the front cover. After this we created a group plan of what we wanted it to look like and this is the plan that we will be going for. All the aspects of the panels link to the music video showing the theme of her album which is a normal convention for artists to do, for example Katy Perry’s album “The Complete Confection” the theme was sweets which went through her music video “California Girls” and her world tour. Next we need to start getting something practices shots of what we want the digipak to look like and practice our skills that we will be using. This will help us when we get to actually taking pictures for it  as we will know exactly what/how we need to do.

January 10th ~ From previously planning our digipak, we wanted to start practicing with the camera to find out what we would like to do. We did this by borrowing our artist for an hour where we took practice shots of her in the main hall. We tried various angles and trying to figure out how we are going to shoot the digipak. This hour was very successful as we could figure out what we were going to do with the artist before we had the actual shooting day. This means we could get straight to what we wanted to do and we knew how we needed to do it. This was also helpful for the artist as she become more confident in front of the camera. This is important as we need to make it look believable as possible and by making her more comfortable, it will look better.

January 29th ~ we are still working on our music video. Where we ask our audience for any feedback that they would like to give us and from this we make more improvements. Draft 8 has now been uploaded. So far we are very happy with what we have got, but some parts may need a little tweaking to make sure they fit with what our target audience wishes to have.

January 30th - 3rd February ~ During these days we have been editing photos and figuring out what works best for each photo. The software that we have used to edit these photos is photoshop. This is very different from the previous software that we normally use, which is Fireworks. It took a while to get used to the software and find out where everything is. The problem we had with editing these photos was when we added a background it made it look fake which means that we couldn't make them look professional.

February 4th ~ When we finished the editing of the digipak pictures, we printed them off and went round to our target audience and asked them what pictures they like the best. We wanted the audience feedback because, it meant that we could understand what they thought would be the best picture to have as the front cover, as this is a big deal as the front cover will become for what she is recognised for. We got a lot of different feedback. Example 6 and example 11 got the highest vote, which showed to us that the audience really liked the kaleidoscope effect for our artist. This helped us realise that this is what our audience would like from our artist. Over all from this we picked example 6 as it got the most votes and we thought that this would help us really establish the Luna Lux’s star image. Today was really helpful as it showed us what kind of affect the target audience likes, which helped to direct us down this direction for our digipak.

March 4th ~ Today the website is finished as we went through every page and we are happy the way that everything and we have got enough audience feedback to know that they are happy with how our website is, as they found it very difficult to come up with any improvements that we could make.

March 6th ~ The music video has been uploaded to YouTube which means that we are finished with that and we can just focus on the Digipak.

March 19th ~Today we have finished the Digipak, as we have gone back and improved on all the pictures that we originally had that our target audience said that we needed to change. From the new picture that we added, we went round to show our target audience again to see if they liked the change, which they did, so we are now finished with that. As everything is finished now, this means that we can start on our evaluation questions.
