Luna Lux: Draft 4

Today we have finally finished the basis of the first lot of editing. What my group needs to do now is get feedback of what they like and what needs to be improved, so when we get to our filming days we can add it more which will hopefully make the music video more effective and more successful. Since we have the first basis done it also means that we need to start putting together our Digipak and website.

From draft 3 we got rid of the red effect and changed it to green as, this makes the footage more green and natural.  We have added in footage to get rid of the blank spaces, but still yet to have another filming day. The main things that we put in is the footage that happens after the bridge, this is the whole of the music video in reverse with a ghost effect which helps it to look like a dream.  Now we have a basis from a full music video, now we need to get feedback. From my personal feedback there are shots that are very long and need to be cut down, so my objective for the next editing session will be to shorten them down, which will help to make the video more entertaining and less boring.

Luna Lux: Draft 3

From draft 2 we added an effect called luminosity on to the very first shot which enhances the colour, we did this as we are very happy with it being the first shot. Also across the whole of the video we have added an effect which emphasise the red which helps to make the video look more vintage. We want the video to look vintage as it will help like in with her star image because; this is her first music video so it really needs to establish her as an artist.  On the second shot we have added a light effect which gradually fades in the footage; this will help it not to be so abrupt and looks like an old movie.  Also on the shot where Luna turns round with the candle over lapping her we have added an effect where the first footage splits up into 4 different screens. This helps to really exaggerate that movement and makes it really over the top.  Next we added a time lapse of the clouds over the top of a close up of Luna. This adds to her star image to make her look naturey. Then we added a ghost effect on to the shots of her running as it makes it look jagged. On the fountain shot we added another overlay of a close up of Luna doing the "oh oh oh" as it adds more of the lip syncing to the video.  On the still image of the water we have added an effect which makes it shake like water, as this really goes with the music. When is gets to the second "running in the dark" with e side view of Luna we have added a kaleidoscope on top of the footage which we made in Adobe After effects. We added this as it gives the video more of a concept side and not just performance. We added more footage to the bridge of the song, and there are blank parts in the middle as we need to have another filming day to fill in that time.  To improve would be to fill in the blank spaces.

Looking back at the risk assessment

After filming and looking back at the risk assessment, we managed to make sure that all the risks that we identified were kept at a low, this is shown through how the team and the artist wasn’t injured and didn’t get hurt. This was a success, as if we didn’t make this assessment that maybe we wouldn’t have looked for these hazards, which meant that someone could of got hurt, which would have resulted in our filming time being reduced, which was something that we really wanted to avoided on the second day of shooting as daylight was decreasing fast, which mean that we really needed to make sure that all of our shots were completed. If we were to do it again, maybe we should of had set everything up and walked the artist through what could be dangerous for her, so she knows automatically what to look out for, which will also help to reduce any injuries while filming.

Luna Lux: Draft 2

From daft 1 we haven't changed anything from the first part of the song which is the first verse to the chorus, but we have added more shots to the second verse and the first part of the chorus. We haven't added any major effects to it yet, as we wanted to get all the shots in first  to see what works and what doesn't then when we are happy the effects will go on last, as it will take up a lot of time to keep taking the effects on and off, so we will be wasting time.  To improve what we have I want to get more of the shots on so we have more of a video then to get some feedback to see what our target audience thinks needs improving.

Luna Lux: Good Shots

From our first lot of shooting days theses were the shots that we thought that were good and would like to put in our video. The first shot is of luna and the camera is tracking her with the rose bushes in front of her. We thought that this was a good shots as I liked the way the camera focused on the flowers in front of her instead of the artist, this really emphasised the artists image of being really flowery, also the lighting in the shot was really good as it made Luna's face light up more. The second shot was of Luna running, this shot was good as we really liked it when the bird flew away, I think that it made the shot a lot more interesting.  The time lapse shot of Luna standing in Oxford Street was a shot that we really liked as it really showed her star image of people different from everyone else and standing out. The shot by the water fountain was nice as I really liked how the light hit her. The close up of her face from a low angle was good because it was different from a conventional close up would be of the artist singing. I really liked the shot where Luna blows the powder paint into the camera as this shot allows really playing around with it, for example making it reverse to the video quirky which helps with the concept side of the music video.

Luna Lux: Bad Shots

These are the bad shots that we filmed during our shooting days. The first shot was bad, as the artist forgot the words of the song, which meant that we couldn’t use them, because we needed to show that the artist knows all the words to the song. The second shot is because; the railing of the fence is covering her lips which meant that we cannot see the singing the song.  The next one is because again she forgot the words which meant that we cannot use the shot. The forth shot we didn’t like very much as it cuts off one of the horse head and it shows the fence of the garden which doesn’t make it look very professional.  The powder paints that it thrown over her the first time wasn’t very good as there wasn’t much of an impact that people got from it. When we filmed the next shot we didn’t realise that we were going to cut her cut off when she sat down, which made the shot bad, as it didn’t focus on the artist. The next shot is of her sitting at the table but when she is lip syncing she isn’t very in to it and very emotionless which doesn’t make this part look very good, so we re-filmed it so she got onto it more. The next shot of the horse head isn’t a very nice shot of the horse which doesn’t make the video look appealing, so we wanted to find a different way of showing the horses head. The last shot isn’t very good because, it’s been filmed the wrong way round, which means even if we flip in round to the right way it will not fit in with the rest of our footage, which wouldn’t make the music video very good.

Behind the scene with Luna lux: Day 2

This is behind the shots day two. This time we filmed in Grace’s garden as this would be more appropriate, so getting everything set up and would make it easier for us. Again this would be something that we can put on our website as fans are always egger to see what happened behind the scene of the new music videos.  It was difficult filming in her garden as we had to make sure that we didn’t get any of the houses in or any other aspects of her garden apart from the tea party.  We hope this shows how much work went into filming this music video, and how we constructed everything

Behind the scene with Luna lux: Day 1

This is behind the scene with luna Lux day 1. We wanted to show our audience how we made the music video, and what locations they were filmed at. This would be a good clip to put on the website as it will give the audience more to watch and more things to do on there. Overall filming this day went really smoothly as we got all the shots that we needed to do and more, which means that it would give us more to work with if some shots did not turn out that great.

Choosing our artist

First Edit - Luna Lux

This is our first draft of the post production of our music video. We know that it is still really rough and some shots are still quite long, but this gives us an idea of what we have achieved and what we need to do to go back and improve. For example we saw that our artist is very emotionless when she sings, to contrast this when we film our concept shots, we can have the singer being more passionate about the song which will give the music video a good variation. From having this already we can ask our target audience what they think of it, to see if we have got the message that we wanted over, and if it fits the song genre of it. The start of the song was quite hard as we weren’t quite sure how to start it as we had different ideas of what we should have but also, it goes straight in to the lyrics which means that we do not have time to build up the shots.
