Luna Lux and Laura Mulvey's Male Gaze

From the first watching of the video, it does look like that our music video supports this theory, because she is wearing a long see through dress which shows her figure. Also the swimming pool shots are very revealing which could be seen as are artist trying to get male attention.  However, we have tried in these situations to make them less revealing as possible, because from the dress we made sure that she wore white leggings and a white vest top underneath so you could see less of her. Without the vest top the dress would have ended further down her back which would defiantly be applied to the theory. To make the shots in the water less revealing we overlaid them with other shots so you could see less of her body.

Throughout making the video we avoided trying to make our artist seem like she wants male attention from wearing less clothes. We wanted to make the artist look like she is trying to make women confident with whom they are. We did this by making our artist stand out from the crowd showing that she is not afraid to be different and conform like everybody else, this will hopefully give women the confidence to be themselves and be different because, nobody should be the same. This is something that we would like to achieve when women reflect on themselves.

Draft 3 Digipak

From draft two we have turned the horse and unicorn heads in to a Polaroid, as this will help us to link it more to her star image and to the website as on the homepage we have the pictures of Luna Lux come up. Also we have given it a spine with the artists name and the name of the album. We have done this because; this is something that normal albums have, so the consumer can see what kind of album it is. Lastly we have a clock face to the CD, as this will help us to make the digipak more interesting and visual, making it different from everyone else’s digipak.

Luna Lux: Draft 9

Digipak Draft 2

From draft 1, we have changed the front cover because, we got feedback from our audience and they thought that the kaleidoscope effect one is better, making it more original. Also we changed the idea that we wanted on the bottom left, as we thought that this was more appropriate to re-create with our own style, as it links to Alice in Wonderland connotation more. Also on the back cover, we have taken away the title of the album and replaced it with the song lists that we already planned to have on the album. Lastly we have added a vintage effect over the top of all the pictures, to help them look the same, but also it links in with her star image more of being vintage and retro.

Development of editing photos for our digipak

These pictures show the progression of our editing. From the pictures that we took from our digipak photo day, we imported them into Photoshop where we got rid of the green background by using the lasso tool. From this we download a background and place it behind the picture. To make the picture look better we then blur the edges around the artist so it looks less abrupt. Lastly we then put a filter over the top by using the RGB curves and Tint. This gave them a vintage filter which will link in to more of her star image.

Kaleidoscope pictures that we created

Kaleidascope pictures that we made by Slidely Slideshow

We wanted to create a kaleidoscope picture because; from our research on an indie genre they use this effect on normal pictures not just digipaks. We really liked the idea of using this technique on one of our photos; this will make the digipak more interesting for the consumers, and help to identify her star image.
Here are some of the pictures that we liked
